    Question New Gaming PC

A friend of mine wants a gaming pc, so using scan with their weekend offers, we have come up with this lot

    Anyone see any issues?

    Intel Quad-Core Q6600 G0
    Asus P5KC, iP35
    2x Crucial 1G Ballistix 240pin DIMM PC2-8500 Unbuffered
Corsair Nautilus 500 External Water Cooling Unit
    320 Gb Western Digital WD3200AAKS
    Pioneer DVR-212BK
    512MB Asus HD2900XT
    Creative X-FI Xtreme Gamer
Antec 900 - Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer
    500w Seasonic M12-500 V2 SLi Modular
1.44Mb Sony Black Floppy Disk Drive OEM
    XP Professional (Already has this)
    20" Viewsonic VX2025wm Silver/Black Widescreen LCD, 1680x1050, 800:1, 300 cd/m2, 8 ms, Speakers

    Damage is £983.57 + VAT

Will that all work together ok? anyone suggest a good air cooler that scan sells if not to use the Nautilus ?

    Thanks

    Re: New Gaming PC

Scythe Ninja Rev B is my favourite air cooler..works a treat with the quad core and is completly silent out of the box.

Motherboard is Ok but I would have the abit IP-35.

If you fancy saving some money this is great RAM and at this speed you would run the quad at 3.6GHZ so no need for the pc8500

I personally use this which is fantastic value for money and a great overclocker

The corsair 520w HX is essentially the same PSU you have chosen but cheaper

Otherwise looks good...You may want to consider the 8800GTS but the ATi is a very nice card

    Re: New Gaming PC

thanks for the feedback, id like the IP-35 Pro but its been out of stock for weeks at scan.

Ram was because its £47 a stick which wasn't to bad, and personally I wont buy anything from OCUK due to bad personal experience.

I have a ninja on my x2, however I didn't see it on scan's site anymore.

I will changed the PSU to the corsair one then, regarding the GTS, the 640MB XFX 8800GTS actually costs £5 more than the ATI card, is it worth the extra?

    Thanks

Id get a different case, that one doesnt have any holes to put water cooling tubes through. Looks like a nice build though! Just like one im getting soon (Except air cooling and a P182SE - possibly X38 mobo)

Is there more than one Antec 900? I bought one from Scan a few weeks ago & it has two holes on the back for water cooling I assume.

    Re: New Gaming PC

Between the GTS and ATi is personal preference really. Some reviews favour one and vice verca.

I wouldn't mind trying the ATi to be honest, they always seem to play games better than they benchmark in my experience.

    Re: New Gaming PC

AMD/ATi 2000 series cards are much better at handling media. nVidia 8800's tend to fair better at gaming. Both are good really.
