New soundcard causes fuzzing on Ventrilo when game is loaded

    Hey guys,
Newly bought Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 OEM PCI Sound card for a mate. Problem is that when he loads up any game whilst on Ventrilo, he transmits a rather loud and annoying fuzzing sound. Could anyone suggest what could be causing fuzzing?

Anything welcome, just putting up a list of the most obvious things could jog something. I cant figure it out

    Thanks

First guess - Your friend has Ventrilo's mixer settings and/or the sound card's volume controls configured incorrectly. Make sure the correct inputs and outputs are selected and mute absolutely everything that is not being used.

Second guess - Older drivers for the sound card or motherboard. Possibly a drive conflict with old sound.

Third guess - PCI Latency timer is set too low. If there is such an option in the BIOS, increase it to 64 or 128.

Fourth guess - If it's an older system, could be a resource conflct. Might want to try removing drivers, then moving the card to another slot and reinstallig.

Is he running Vista? If so try turning off Aero as this affected the sound in some of my games.

Has he disabled any onboard sound? Shouldn't make a difference, as both should be able to work together, but...
