P5K Premium - IDE not detected.

    Question:

I bought a new PC the other day. Plugged it all up, it works fine using 2x SATA HDD's and 1x SATA DVD. But it keeps saying 'IDE not detected press F1 to continue' you press F1 and it starts fine.

There is an option on the bios to stop it from asking you to press F1 and continue anyway. But I was hoping someone knows how to stop it looking for IDE devices? I turned off the 'eSATA & PATA controller' in the bios and have played with a lot of the settings with no joy.

    Anyone had the same problem?

    Setup is:

    Asus P5K Premium
    Q6600 G0
    4x1024 ballistix PC8500
    8800 Ultra
    2x 400GB SATA drives
    1x DVD drive.

Think they are plugged into ports 4,5,6 at the moment... need to find some cables that allow me to use the other ports, bloody GPU covers them!!

    Many Thanks!

Re: P5K Premium - IDE not detected.

As your not using it just disable IDE in bios, this will also eliminate the warning.. in bios goto Onboard devices & disable Jmicron controller.

    luck

I tried this and I'm still getting the message... any other ideas?

Not at my PC at the moment so can't remember the exact name. Try changing the option with "Halt on all errors" to "Halt on no errors"

Sorry.... bumping this as I still can't get rid of the message.

I can 'skip' it by not pressing F1 as mentioned in the first post but it's still there.... there should be some way to get rid of it!!

what drive is plugged into sata4 ?? that's a slave port along with sata 2( these 2 are black) . It means that it won't boot. What is your Hard drive boot order??

Re: P5K Premium - IDE not detected.

I'm using the 3 SATA ports located closest to the front of the case. The GPU blocks 2 of them so I cant use those until I find some differant cables.

I believe the numbers are 4,5,6 but will check on re-boot. The 2 HDD's are plugged into the top ports(4 & 5?), 1x DVDrw in the bottom port (6?)

They're dual booting XP and Vista so it just shows as one device in the boot order. The 2 HDD's are plugged into black ports, 1 DVD into one of the red ports.

Re: P5K Premium - IDE not detected.

I'd try plugging your HD into red & see if you still get message.
