Yet another headset thread!

I've looked here Headset recommendation and here Gaming Headphones and now think I know enough to realise I want Sennheiser headphones...or do I?

Do I want the USB 'phones or the normal 3.5mm jack 'phones? If it helps, my case has both front and rear USB and jacks and I'm using the P5B on board sound.

Then I'm on to which model to buy

Sennheiser PC151

Sennheiser PC155 USB

or another brand/interface?

i just got the 151 and its pretty good - i would have got the usb version but it costs more

there is NOTHING wrong with headset and sound card threads....

in fact it's a BREATH of fresh air.

At LAST....people treating their ears to some audio candy, after all the years of £250 graphic cards for eye candy.

get normal jack phone ones for the sound card to do it's thing....the USB ones create a virtual sound card and it wont live with a good soundcard in games.

That's the first time I've been thanked for asking what most consider a banal and played out subject!

When you say "the sound card to do it's thing" can I substitute "on board sound" and get the same result or should I grow a pair and buy a sound card too?

in the same boat as you, dont like my gamcom1's and am getting the pc151's (its either them or the pc161 but i dont want to spend any more on a headset) scan have them, not in stock! boo! play have them at £33

i suppose most people who bought the USB version is that its much simpler to plug in, front access, just remove it, dont have to go roudn to the back of the pc e.t.c

Jsut got pc151;s yesterday for 29.99 from play.com delivered. Cheapest u will find it. Love em. pc161 mean u can hear more when gaming which isnt a good thing tbh, so i would go for 151. 161 have open ear thingy majig

Taking into account the fact that I have front USB & 3.5mm ports I think if what Zak says above applies to sound cards and on board sound I'm better off getting the 3.5mm 'phones.

Soooo, it's PC151s for me.

Merlin you got a good price there, they're £32.99 now I'm on a mission to find them cheaper.

EDIT: Overclockers have them with Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter 2 for £35.24.

Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter 2 retails at around the £16 mark. If it's cack I'll sell it on, if not, bargain...right?

If you look under the bargains section - under the thread D900, i bought another pair from that site. Actually came to 14 pound delivered. Only problem is i have to wait till the 24th, and ordered 2 weeks ago. If i cant find a use for a 2nd pair, ill flog them to u if youd like. might be a week or so though

USB is exactly the same as onboard sound. CPU hogger.
