Question Just got a new hard-drive, quick question.

Can I just start using it right away, or is it better to do a format of it ? Quick or normal ?

    Thanks for any help

Re: Just got a new hard-drive, quick question.

if it's new, most likely it will not be formatted anyway, or partitioned, so quick format will not work, you'll have to partition the drive 1st then format the drive.

some places however do sell them already partitioned, but not very often.

i tend to never use the quick format method for security reasons & reliability.

It's that hard-drive if that helps. Ima do a 100/400 partition. For having XP on the 100gb side and other stuff on the rest. Don't want more then 2 partitions. So, do I need to format after partitioning it like you said ?

edit; the link is from a norwegian site, ask if there's something you don't understand

    Thanks for the help, again.

I hate doing formats, takes way too long imo :/
