Hi
I got a 80GB spare 3.5 hard drive IDE, would like to turn it into a USB external drive. how do i do that? recommended products?
Thank you
morning and thanks for quick reply.
Well, so u connect the power and IDE face to the drive, then the case to the computer through USB, and it should come up under "My Computer" automaticly right? does the computer have to be turned off? or can u plug it in the usb in and out at any time?
thanks
usb is hot plug so should not matter if pc on or off
reason i ask is
I just bought a caddy, similar to that asaka, pluged my HD, then to the pc, nothing happens, tried different HD, different jumper levels, no luck, power works lights come on and u hear the drive working!!! but nothing under "My computer" ahhhh
am i doing something wrong or this caddy is bust?
done that, the lights come on, u can head the HD running. But nothing in windows XP, it says set it as "master ide", on a western digital drive that means no jumper on right? well i tried it with and without a jumper.
do i need to format the HD through the motherboard first?
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
