How do i backup an OS to DVD's??

i've got a brilliant os at the moment with tons of good drivers and tools for work, all configured to run really smoothly and with absolute stability.
what program can make backups of an OS onto DVD so that i can do a restore at any time???
the o.s. is about 6-7GB compressed.

Don't you just hit start, programs, accessories, system tools then backup.

I don't think the built in version of the backup utility works with CD-RWs or DVD-RWs. You may have to use a third party program, but I don't use or know any...

Well.

you can save it onto your desktop then you could add it to a dvd or cd.

sorry guys i forgot to say i'm using windows 2k, so a 3rd party backup utility is probably the best way to make a ghost image of all the root folders etc...
i guess it's probably best to use norton drive image and to make an image on the hard disk. os images always work from an alternative OS, i reckon even xp does an image from a basic command line os.

Ghost supports writing directly to CD-RW drives, and most likely supports DVD drives with the newer versions, so there is a chance it could burn directly to them from its DOS interface anyway.

Ghost 2003 supports burning to DVDs natively from dos.

Aha, Ghost 2003 eh? There's your answer. I have a copy of Drive Image 2002 which doesn't support backup to DVD's, maybe later versions do, I don't know.

Ghost it too another partition as an Image OR to another Disc I have like 3-4 images on the go at once bench, backup, completely clean and current Ghost is your best friend when it comes to OSes

Whilst I agree that Ghost is probably the best utility for this, as an alternative, Nero will also perform a backup from the recorder menu.
