    PSU Question

My Akasa 650W PSU has decided to die, it lights the green light on the motherboard but that is all it does!

I have tried my spare 480W Tagan and it powers up so I will be needing a new PSU

I currently have a Kandalf Case and I am wondering what PSU is best (the PSU is mounted sideways in this case)

The specs for my system are in the "My system" tab.

    Thanks.

    ps

I would like to be able to add an 8800GTX or better and a Q6600 in the near future.

    Corsair hx620w

    Re: PSU Question

I don't think Corsair make their own PSUs I think they buy them in and rebadge them.

    Re: PSU Question

thought so.. I think another US company also makes them.

I was thinking maybe closer to the 800W mark to be honest.

    how about ....

    Re: PSU Question

A Corsair 620W can handle any single GPU and quad for a while yet.

that Enermax is an alright choice, but has short cables, only has extra 6A on the +12V over the Corsair, neither PSU is adequate if your machine did end up needing that 6A difference, plus the Corsair is cheaper.

    Re: PSU Question

he's probably referring to the slight increase of resistance with modular cabling, realistically though it isn't a problem.

Quoted for absolute truth... the hx620w peak load is closer to 800w anyway, it will EASILY run 88gtx sli, quad core, 4 hdd's, 6 fans, fan controller, floppy drive and 2 opticals, as i've had one running that, and it can't have been getting hot, as the fan didn't even spin up any faster/louder

Yes they are re-badged seasonics, fantastic build quality, and the 620w version will be plenty future proof
    *insert something whitty here*
