    8500GT alongside 8800GTS

I've just replaced the 8500GT in the HTPC machine with a 2600Pro after noticing the ATI was fanless, and therefore going to be quieter than the 8500.

So....can I put the 8500 in the second slot on my mobo, and run my second monitor from that, as opposed to both screens being plugged into the 8800 GTS currently?

Any advantages or benefits in doing this? Or pointless?

It really depends on what you are planning to do with it to be honest.

For example, you can run your desktop on the 8500 while gaming on the 8800, which reduces the load on the 8800 a little. But if the plan is to game on both monitors off the two cards, the 8500 could potentially slow things down.

Tried it - took even more ram away from Windows - registering only 2.5GB now (from 3GB). Doesn't make much difference to Windows either. Lol!

    Anyone want an 8500GT??!!??
