Recommended selling price?

Well, it's time for me to get a new pc. My current one has done me well over the past 2 years but due to it's spec it is near impossible to upgrade to a decent degree, I might as well see if I can fetch some bob for it. Seeing as you people seem to know your stuff probably a bit better than I do, I thought it worthwhile registering to get your opinions on what price i should be looking for.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500 (2.25Ghz) Skt 939
Motherboard: Abit UL8
RAM: 1.5Gb DDR
Harddrive: 120Gb + 250Gb (a few weeks old) (both IDE)
Graphics: XFX Geforce 256mb 7800gs Extreme Edition (AGP)
Soundcard: Soundblaster live 24bit
Power Supply: 530W Hiper Type M 'HPU-4M530'

and other bits and bobs such as dual layer DVD rewriter, floppy drive and a few 80mm fans thrown in for laughs.

No monitor, mouse, keyboard speakers or OS. All is in working order (I'm on it now) and has had pretty regular de-dusting etc. Has not been overclocked, haven't even attempted to, the graphics card is pre-overclocked from XFX.

Just wondering how much I would expect this to reach, I was hoping more than ebay's wonderous 'gaming' systems with an array of dual core processors complied with 7200's or x1250's, maybe my hopes are too high, please set me right :confused:

As a whole PC I don't think you would get much at all. A split may prove better but it's difficult to say.

The Hard drives will be worth £30 or so.

Graphics card is nice for AGP so will fetch a few bob.

Someone will want the RAM.

The rest is hard to say.

As a whole system though I wouldn't expect more the £250/ £300 because you could build a half decent one for £350 now anyway.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting much more than £200 - £250, its more to ease the blow on my wallet than provide the main income for the new system (that is what the student loan is for ;) )

Thanks for your reply, I'll do a bit of hunting around on ebay and such to see what people are buying the parts (or similar) for.

As staffsMike says - split it up and sell it in bits on ebay.

You'll be amazed what will sell and for how much.

Somebody, somewhere wants your cpu, someone else will want the memory etc.

Ive made nearly £300 this week on ebay just selling old bits of junk.

You could sell your old stuff for more than you can buy new (a bit of luck required).

As a whole, that's only worth £200 tops. I've seen them selling in our own For Sale forum, with twin core cpu's for under £250.

However...that AGP card on it's own is worth Ebaying.

The sound card is worth pennies

Keep the large hard drive if it's new.

Flog the rest (case, psu, mobo and cpu and ram, soundcard and the smaller hard drive) for about £100

Bet the video card gets you about £75 on eay IF it's listed well
Keepintg the 250 gig drive, if it's new, SAVES you money on your new rig as spare storeage, OR put it in an external enclosure (Icybox) and use it for external storage via USB :)
