    Unhappy ebuyer cancelled my RMA but still have my PSU...

    I bought a case (with PSU) from ebuyer... the PSU died... so the most LOGICAL thing to do is the send back the PSU for a replacement. I asked for an RMA to send the PSU back stating that I was not prepared to send the case back as it isn't faulty and my PC is built into it... they ACCEPTED my RMA, got the PSU back, then a couple of days later, after they recieved the PSU, they said they NEEDED the case... I said this is rediculous, as it costs more to send the case back, than it does to send me a replacement PSU from their range... they ignored my message for 2 weeks, until yesterday when I sent them another message saying "where's this up to? still waiting for response to last message"... then they closed the whole RMA saying...

    "Your RMA request has been cancelled by our system because nothing has been done since it was approved."

    Yet they have the PSU, and it's them that have done nothing!

    Unbelievable - common sense would say, just replace the £10 PSU, it's cheaper than sending / replacing a £70 case just because the PSU is faulty....

    Thats ebuyer for you mate, they need the whole lot back because I suspect whoever they send it back to won't credit them for just the power supply on it's own. I do agree that it is a bit silly though.

    They've probably done you a favour to be honest. A £10 PSU is highly likely to fail catastrophically taking most if not all of the rest of your PC with it.
    Don't be a cheapskate. Go out and get a better PSU. It doesn't have to be mega expensive. £40 or £50 will get something reasonable and the extra money spent now could save you hundreds later.

    I agree - I've already replaced the PSU - as it would have been daft to have the PC down for weeks while I wait for the RMA to be sorted (or rather not sorted in this case). It's annoying though

    Do you have any emails to say it was accepted as just the PSU? I agree they do need the whole unit to replace/ refund the product but if they agreed this in the first place they should atleast fund the delivery cost to ship the case back to them as it was their mistake accepting it in the first place.

    They have said they will refund any postage costs incured if I send the case back - but I'm not really happy with this as straight from the beginning I asked to only send the PSU back. I've got emails saying they accepted the RMA, and all the details are on their RMA system.

    It doesn't matter too much but it's just annoying all the same. It's only a cheapo PSU, but whatever happened to common sense, and providing rapid customer service?

    I know it's not an especially valid comparison, but Dell would simply replace the PSU, either by sending you a replacement PSU (next day) or just getting you to send back the PSU.

    If you bought the case, bundled with the PSU, then you'll need to send the whole lot back. For the sake of a £10 PSu I wouldnt bother.

    I know you shouldnt think like that, because its faulty, but sometimes its just not worth the hassle, especially at that price. I agree though, they shouldnt have accepted the RMA, then ask for the case, then cancel the RMA after providing no response to your messages.
