want the DVI to future proof it, rather than standard VGA. Currently use a pair of 22" CRTs, but want to change sometime soonish
any ideas?

There's a DVI version of the Belkin Switch2 series. E.g.

I bought a KVM recently and ended up with the VGA version of the Belkin Switch2. I would have preferred a DVI KVM but the cost of all the ones I could find was way too high. The DVI version of the Switch2 was only listed on eBuyer at around £60 but out of stock (can't find it there any more) and wasn't on sale anywhere else I could find when I was looking.
I considered waiting and getting it instead but given it was going to cost at least twice as much and the one review I found of it said it gave shockingly bad video quality, I just went with the VGA version and don't use it for video. My monitor has both VGA and DVI input so I have my main machine on the DVI and the one I don't use much on the VGA. The KVM just switches the mouse and keyboard.
I'm a bit confused by your mention of two CRT monitors. Isn't the point of a KVm switch that you have just one monitor but more than one machine?
yep, i have 2 x 22" but want to reduce to one
down the line i want to buy a good 22"+ LCD to replace both
2 Port KVM Switch with DVI
It's ugly but it's sub £40. Add in cables of your choice ~£10 and use Google Checkout to save a few quid.

Probably, and if the OP had ASKED for a cheap as chips monitor with a flimsy keyboard and wonky unbranded mouse, I'd have posted links to those instead of a DVI KVM with USB that supports high resolutions which I THINK is what he asked for. Well, with the original posters comments about the plus £100 price tag in mind, I did already link to a USB/DVI 2-port KVM which costs £65 and supports 2048x1536. OK, so I also said I only found one review which slammed it but it does cost well under £100 and you can't judge a product on one review. It's worth looking see if now it's been on sale longer there are more reviews out there for it.Quote:
