What's the best 120mm fan around?

by this I mean most CFM for least DBA as the one in my case(not the one on the processor but the one at the back of the case extracting heat) is noisy and tempremental so I want to know which fan can move the most cfm but at the lowest DBA. What is the crossover point?

Basically, I want a fan as quiet as possible but moving a good amount of air.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

I like the Yate Loons. If you want something a little slower than that, there is also the Nexus (pretty much the same thing, but operates at lower RPM for the same voltage). The Scythe S-Flex, available in various speed is apparently just as good, though I've not tried them.

Nexus silent fans have very good reputation for being silent

I'm quite happy with the Coolermaster LED fans, seems to give a decent draught without being auidble.

I've used the Yate Loons and the Scythes and they're both good fans and quiet ! Yates are best value though i reckon !

Re: What's the best 120mm fan around?

Somebody I trust suggested this fan:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=396709

I use a pair of Sharkoon 1000's which are extremely quiet / silent. Unfortunately they don't move much air, but no low RPM fan moves much air really. For my CPU fan, I use a Yate Loon SL (the low speed fan), and its great. I think its similar to the Sharkoon - maybe a db or two more, but pushes slightly more air.

I expect the other Yate Loon fans (the medium and high speed ones) are very good too. Although, for my next fan, I'm going to try the one I linked above. It seems like it might be the best fan in terms of volume vs air flow. Although its worth noting, that even the best fan in the world in terms of air to volume ratio, might not be suitable for everybody, just because its a low speed fan.

p.s. Never trust the specifications listed on the websites. (For fans). They almost always lie.

Re: What's the best 120mm fan around?

Using 3 Scythe S-Flex in my case at the moment, 2 1200 rpm in the case and a single 1600rpm on the CPU. I cab hardly hear a thing out of my case and it keeps my Q6600 at a nice temp

Yate loons are generally acknowledged as being the best for the price.

silenX fans are pretty good on paper, but ther are seriously expensive.

I use sharkoon silent eagles, very quiet, and look nice too

S-Flex are the best i've used. Sharkoon are a close second.

Coolermaster LED fans are quiet but not silent like the other two.

I use AcoustiFan and you know what, they drone.... not loud but annoying and a noise that seems to carry through the house, it's weird.

Re: What's the best 120mm fan around?

Yate-loons are the cheapest and therefore the best Well, they're good and quiet for the price, chilledpc sell them, otherwise they're fairly hard to get in the UK - the nexus fans are supposed to be slowed down yate-loons with better quality control; a couple of the YL's I've received have been rather noisy, but most are good especially when slowed down using something like speedfan.

Are silenX actually as good as they claim, Im looking for some 120mm led fans for my new case and out of all the fans ive come across the silenx seem to be the quietest while still being able to move a good amount of air. Has anyone had any experiecne with them at all?

Basically, no - if you trust the folks at SPCR (I've not tried them, but I doubt the reports in SPCR would be far off). Most would agree that their claims are utterly unrealistic, and their claims are blatant lies than mere embellishment.
