Formatting and Partitioning a SATA HD
Hello everyone
I have a new SATA Hitachi Deskstar HD that I wish to introduce into my system! I will be replacing my IDE/SATA Master (which has the OS and the BootCFG on it with the new SATA.
So please, how does one go about Formatting and Partitioning this new HD. Under the old Win 98 it was fairly easy; one simply used the Win98 Star-up diskette for this operation. However, I am unsure how I go about it using my Win XP Start-up CD.
A few tips please?

Re: Formatting and Partitioning a SATA HD
the AA8XE has native SATA on the Intel southbridge doesn't it?
In that case just plug it in (recommend that you unplug all your IDE HDD drives whilst installing OS as XP has a habit of installing certain files to IDE drives if present  which causes a few problems when you then try to boot ...) & follow the prompts partitioning & formatting during the OSD install as required.
Re: Formatting and Partitioning a SATA HD
Get yourself a copy of something like Ghost, I use v8.2, plug the SATA drive in, make sure the SATA controller is set to IDE mode, boot up off the Ghost floppy, copy the entire drive over, make sure you select the correct source and target, remove the other disk and see if the system boots, it should do so job done.

Re: Formatting and Partitioning a SATA HD
Fresh install, copy data over, wipe old HDD. Just pop in the CD, 'press any key' when prompted, follow the on-screen instructions, and work away.
