cheapest, quitest socket 939 cooler - suggestions please

hey, any suggestions for a good, cheap and quiet socket 939 cooler? i've just built up my 939 system again and i'm using the cooler from my old 3000+ on my x2 4200 and it's going crazy just trying to keep the temps at about 38c when the system is idle...

oh, the cooler i'm after also has to fit without taking the motherboard out

    cheers

Arctic Freezer 64 Pro is probably your best bet other than the stock heatsink. Although I wouldn't say it is very quiet, you can always slow down the fan in BIOS. I have modded mine with a 12cm Yate Loon instead of the original fan

38'C idle is not a bad temperature. My heavily underclocked 3000+ Idles at 38 and Max at 39. At 150% overclock it max out around 50'C

AF 64 Pro for me too - Using SpeedFan to slow it to 75% which is inaudible over the (quiet) case fan - Keeps my 3200+ @ 2.4GHz at 34'C

I refit mine the other day without having to take the motherboard out too - very easily

Yup same here. Can't beat it for price and ease of fitting (no paste required either). Cooling and quietness is also good.

Re: cheapest, quitest socket 939 cooler - suggestions please

i'm not worried about the temps just the noise as the fan is currently spinning at about 4800rpm when the system is idle. i am using vista so it might be something funny with that although i don't think so. i'll probably go for the freezer 64.

    cheers
