Need advice from someone who knows what FC-AL-2 is ?

I found some REALLY cheep 10k SCSSI drives, but they have a FC-AL-2 interface.

Could I use one of these http://store.thescsistore.com/newsca2adorb.html

so I could use these http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/SEADR413

on a normal SCSSI controller ??

    Cheers

These are fibre channel devices and will need a specific fibre channel contoller (HBA an fibre channel speak) I am not very familiar with the rechnology except that fibre channel can run over twisted pair (which I suspect these are as they have a 40 pin centronics interface.)

The SCA2 physical interface is described here http://www.rackmount.com/RAID/HD_Interface.htm

The manual for the device you linked to is here

    http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/...tah_10k7_fc_pm.

Here are some deatils of adaptors that might work with that drive http://www.cs-electronics.com/fibre-...l-adapters.htm

    http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/SEADR413

this is a fiber channel drive and has a 40 pin connector

    installation pdf
    http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/...10k7_fc_ig.pdf

Just to add, the Fibre channel HBA's (or the cards needed for a fibre channel interface) tend to be well over £1000 a piece!
That'll probably offset any saving you make on those 10k drives

If that would be true, then I might be rich, as I have more then one laying around here

As everything else, it depends on the model you are looking after.
You can get cheap ones, and you can get expensive ones.
