Re: How low can you go?

A couple of years ago I came up here to St Andrews to visit the university, arrived at about 5am off the sleeper train & had nothing to do for 2 hours until Starbucks opened, so I was left wandering around in the fridgid North Sea winds. I sat down on a bench, opened up my ThinkPad & the CPU initally reported 5dc. Now that is impressive for air cooling!

Re: How low can you go?

After using Clunk's extremely helpful guide to C2D overclocking, and my watercooling modded P180 I have a silent e6600 3.28GHz at ~30* idle, max. 50* with Orthos. Is this good? It's my first time at overclocking, so i'm pretty green

Chips vary but I think Intel quote a max temperature of 60C (not 100% on that - anyone want to confirm/correct?) and you probably woudnt kill it until quite a way beyond that - so its nothing to worry about if thats what you mean.

24.2 now so still running cool enough for my liking, even under heavy load I have never seen it read above 35.

I am a bit scared now of killing it; seeing other temps I just thought I'd better make sure.
