    dell vostro 400

    hello,
the dell vostro 400 desktop has the option os eiether 2.66 intel core duo with 1333fsb or 3.0 with 1333fsb but doesnt have the option for a q6600.
in the manual it has diagrams on how to remove the hsf and the processer.
is it possible to later on stick in a quad core processer or not?

    Re: dell vostro 400

if it supports 1333mhz i see no reason why it won't run the core 2 quads. Only limiting factor will be the PSU but i'm sure that will handle it to.

    Re: dell vostro 400

It's actually possible that it WON'T support a Quad Core because of the voltage differences required. If you think about it, there's had to be some BIOS updates for certain motherboards so that they could take a Q6600 G0 stepping (think this was mostly on 680i chipsets)
