I would actually expect the price to be around the £300 - £350 mark, which is about the same as when the first 1TB drives came out. Same goes for the 750GB and the 500GBs at the time
I'm looking forward to puting 5 of them in a RAID-5 box

That's always the flaw with very large storage devices, the chance of failure and it taking everything with it. Whilst having multiple larger drives reduces your chances (in theory you're better off with 1 x 500GB than 10 x 50GB), when they do fail the effort of recovery is a lot higher.
And seriously, do you guys really USE all that storage space, or do you really just horde things that might interest you? I barely make use of 5GB worth of music and another 5GB of RPG documents and I Struggle to imagine needing more storage.
I have a 500GB drive for my music which is filling up fast (all ripped from CDs i own in FLAC)
I have 4x 500GB and 2x 250GB drives full of VOBs, IFOs and BUPs. All of which are from disks i own.
Just got a Scan delivery of another couple of 500GB drives. I need to order my Thecus N5200Pro soo to put all this in. And then when i do, I'll start accumulating 1TB drives and eventually get another N5200Pro
Although, all that should do me a couple of years of media collecting
Hopefully with hotplug capability on the drives too

I actually wonder, why don't manufacturers make ultra-thin 3.5" drives with single platter, then we can have like 24 drives in the space in like, 8 normal 3.5" drive's space. They made 2.5" drives that thin already, why not 3.5" with the same thickness (or even 5")

I guess there is an overhead with the drive casings and electronics that would make them consume substantially more space.
I am all for bigger drives, the issue I see is that backup solutions are not keeping pace.
