    Question New MB + CPU

    Hi all i'm about to replace my old motherboard and cpu and what i was wondering is should i do a clean Reinstall of windows once i've hooked up my old HD to my new Board and Cpu, the O/S is windows XP Home Edition with service pack 1. . What do you folks think ??, any advice would be most appreciated thanks in advance cheer's.

    If possible it is probably best to do a format and reinstall, this would get rid of anything that may have built up, even through a firewall. Such as game installations or not properly removed drivers/software.

    However you dont have to format, you could just uninstall the old drivers for the motherboard. Put the new motherboard in and boot it up, then make sure the old drivers are removed and install the new ones.

    Summary: Reinstall = recommended, but you dont have to.

    when ever a major thing like a mobo is switched especially if its a diff shipset i always reformat. For example i just upgraded my dualie from 2 1600xp's to 2 2800MP's and ran aqua mark b4 i reformatted. With the new cpu's in i got a score of 6000 then after i reformatted im sitting at 26000

    Re-install also gets my vote.
    I know it's a pain in the ass, but it's worth it when upgrading a mobo.
