Loong USB Cable?
Not sure if this is 100% the right place to post this but whatever.
Recently moved the PC out of the office and into the bedroom (much better), but for mine & the G/Fs business use it is better that the printer stays with the phone and other connections. Is it possible to get a USB Extension lead of approx. 30 meters to connect the two? Printer is an Epson RX425 all in one if that helps.
Cheers.

Re: Loong USB Cable?
USBs max specified length without repeaters/amplifiers is 10m. your best option is to buy 3 x 10m cables with built in amplifiers and string them together, i believe both CPC and farnell sell these

Re: Loong USB Cable?
Yes, i would consider a printer server.
USB dosen't play well over distance, its not designed too, it won't.
A printer server could be wireless or standard ethernet, won't cost too much, could run other things (Like a web cam) etc. But been wireless might be enough of a benefit alone?
Not checked these work with your printer (hey i'm tired)

Never had much luck with networks so that's why I was looking at sticking USB, last time was with my PS2 and it never worked well. Will look into it though.

Re: Loong USB Cable?
Can you not try a USB network print server with wireless
Alternative if you have the money, Belkin have a wireless USB hub at

Re: Loong USB Cable?
+1 on the print server, 30M of usb will be nothing but trouble, even more so with more than 1 line booster.

Re: Loong USB Cable?
http://www.farnell.com/
they are just about the best electronics (not usually the computer kind, more the capacitors and resistors kind) retailer on the planet
there is also CPC
http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp
which is more the consumer facing part of the business, so there are lower minimum order values etc however they have a much smaller selection
