Was Wondering if any 1 can tell me is this to Hot for a 1.2Ghz AMD Athlon
I’m getting Temps of
Board Temperature : 28.7°C / 74.7°F
CPU Temperature : 62.8°C / 123.4°F
This sounds a tad High for a 1.2Ghz??? :confused:
Fan is a cool master and is running @ 4383rpm
What do the People think?
I've only started looking at the temp as I think this mite be why my pc has started to crash recently,

if not then i'd still say its borderline
sounds about right for a high-end tbird, those things ran HOT
50.C yea but 60+ thats a tad too high ,try cleaning the hsf and u could also re/apply artic silver

I just tried to update the bios but it told me it didn't work when i flashed it, but when i re-started the comp the bios tells me is the new version ??? :confused:

imo, that's way too high
50C and under is acceptable
up to 55C is OK if all is stable
anything over that and you're looking at problems, inc. crashes
I've experienced systems crashing when they hit around 57C, so temps in the 60's are to be avoided
true, those old Athlons ran hot, but I ran an overclocked 1.2 and managed to keep it at 48C or so
as mentioned previously, remount cooler on CPU using some decent thermal compound and consider some extra or more powerful case fans

u say u have just oinstalled the heat sink 3 months ago but have u actually had a look at it? are you a smoker? pets? these all add to clogging a hs very fast indeed. Get it orf and get a brush inbetween the fins and hover it :D

There are a lot of factors that affect CPU temp. Not the least being room temperature and ventilation around the case.
It really wouldn't hurt to remount that cooler. Clean everything up first with meths or isopropyl alcohol, take your time, spread a thin coating of thermal compound on CPU core and make absolutely sure cooler heatsink base is spotlessly clean.
Maybe re-tension cooler mounting bracket by bending with pliers to give more downward tension.
And also, as suggested by Class, clean case of all dust bunnies.
Do you have any case fans? One exhausting should be minimum. And using cable ties to get all cables out the way, or using rounded cables helps, improves the airflow.
so take off all you clothes :p
tried taking the heatsink off + loads of AS3, or, another case fan ?
By the sound of things, the HSF you have isn't rated to your CPU (ignore manufacturers guidelines for upto 1.4Ghz etc) or the thermal paste used is non existant.
Check the thermal paste first as that doesn't cost you anything, if its not then get yourself to maplins - a nice HSF which should be fine for your system for £3.79.
gf's 1.333 athlon was overheating & crashing @ 70c. put on a Coolermaster XDream & added 4 case fans, sorted the bastard out, maxing out at 60c

Malice, I kinda had the same problem but ALOT worse on my PIII 800, I was reaching temperatures of 103oC!! It wouldnt let me load to windows and would always crash on me, I thought there might have been something wrong with the diode, twasnt. In the end good old elbow grease solved the problem, the fan on the processor just need cleaning, it was as dirty as my girlfriend! My problems were solved.
So just give it a good clean, it might work. Seriously!

I am still getting a continues Beep sound through my speakers then the game slows down then crashes this is when playing any game for about 3minutes...??? :confused:
I have also tried to Flash the Bios....
But didn't have any luck with that as it keeps coming up with an error message.
