£450 system

Hi my other halfs brother has £450 to spend on a new system, will play the odd game but nothing new, had been offered a p4 3.4GHz system with Ati x550/600 but i dont think its worth it. He needs the whole system, monitor etc. blah blah, i had a quick look but thought you guys may have some ideas for this tight budget. cheers

Including a monitor with this will be tough, but it can just be done.

Can you confirm that he's willing to build a system himself (or have you or another relative do this), rather than needs one pre-built?

Will he need a windows licence (almost certainly, I'd guess)?

To give you an idea, a Dell with a halfway usable graphics card (8600GT) is gonna cost at least £470 + delivery, assuming you remove all the warrenty on it. You might be able to call them and haggle that down a little though.

yeah i can build the system, looked at the dell that may be just what he needs, thanks for the suggestions so far

Nah he has a legit copy of XP so that is one thing to cross off, is it possible to remove the OS from a Dell system when oredering it to reduce the cost?
