    Mouse build quality

Having finally given up on my 18month-old Logitech MX618 I rooted out my old Logitech dual sensor only to find that it now suffers from the same microswitch failure as my 618 (randomly double clicks rather than single, a sign of weakening of the spring inside the microswitch and the sort of thing that, infuriatingly, could could easily be fixed with simple debounce filtering in the driver).

I'm currently using an ancient original MS Intellimouse Explorer (so ancient it's no longer listed in MS's Intellipoint driver), but will need to get something with better tracking. While I love the ergonomics of Logitech mice, having 2 of them go bad on me in the same way has put me off the brand. I have a 2yr-old wireless Intellimouse but have decided I don't really like MS's scroll wheel, even though it felt great to start with, so I'm looking at other brands and decided to drop my fixation with wireless mice for my desktop machine at least.

I've never tried a Razer, but they get great reviews. My question is about build quality - do these things last? My original MS IE is 9yrs old and still going strong, which says something about the brand's built quality. Can a Razer be counted on to last? (I've been thinking about the DeathAdder.)

    Re: Mouse build quality

I've been using an mx1000 ever since it first came out with no issues, only thing ive had any experience of longer than that is the intellimouse (one of the first optical ones) that has been on my parents pc since about 1997.
