Quick upgrade question?

Hey guys,

Just looking for a cheap "quick" upgrade. Having just bought a new game my system seems struggling to run it, and after a few tests it seems like its my memory.

Is it worth buying another 2x512MB sticks to whack in and not run dual channel (are Winchesters dodgy with 4 DIMMS?), or sell my bits and pieces and put towards a further upgrade (CPU, Mobo and RAM)?

Any advice necessary, was hoping for just a quick upgrade as I dont have the cash right now to upgrade and I wanna play this game!

What do you have already?

2gb of RAM is very useful for games. How about just getting 2gb dual channel? shouldn't be too expensive.

I'm sure it will benefit for 2gb even if its not in dual channel.

Its about £70 for 2GB, wheras I think I can pick up another couple of 512s for about £40. My only concern was the winchester core not being compatible with 4xdimms? Is this going to be an issue? Im not too fussed about dual channel, so long as my game runs without long pauses LOL

You can buy 2x1gb OCZ Platinum PC6400 now for under £50. Amazing value for top notch RAM.

im assuming its DDR not DDR2.

I'd look towards a bigger upgrade to be honest..it's as good a time as any. Very cheap ddr2 and even quad cores are reasonable.

I do remember something about winchesters not appreciating 4 DIMMS
