    Re: New Intel Quads...

From what i've read, pricing won't change (well they won't get any cheaper than the current ones anyway) The new ones will simply replace the current ones at the same prices.

That is exactly what I didn't want to hear...
hrm, Q6600 now or wait for Q9450 in Jan
Nvidia's new offering might be out then, as well as x48/780i....
God, I hate this endless waiting game

Indeed it is, even with some new chips in there that are a complete waste of time and money (lower spec chips for the same price as higher spec chips? )

But that Q9450 sure does look awfully sweet, I think I'll hold out and grab one of those.

Which is another change in Mobo (and maybe RAM)
I'll just be dropping a quad into this as it stands, shouldn't work out too expensive

Exactly, and judging from their Quad server lineup, the performance isn't exactly going to be breath taking either. Maybe in 2009 AMD will take the lead again, but if you need a good new machine now, then Intel is where the action is.

Likewise. The new Intel chips may not be revolutionary but I can stick one in my exisitng C2D setup.

    Re: New Intel Quads...

Damn Intel everytime I get close to upgrading the E4300, a new set of chips appears on the horizon to tempt and taunt me. Q9450 does look verrry tempting.

    Re: New Intel Quads...

In real life terms will these new chips really make that much difference or is it still more beneficial to just buy a Q6600 and upgrade when the new opterons come out ?
