    activating windows

i have a genuine copy of windows vista home premium 64 bit puchased from scan,
but recently i keep getting a message to activate windows, after like 3 months of use with no problems.
when i type in the cd key that was given, it says the cd key is already in use and it gives me options on what to do such as buy another one? or activate via phone.

could you please advise on what to do.
    many thanks

    Re: activating windows

Give MS a ring, either its a OS fault or some scoundrel might have nabbed your cd key (very rare for this to happen).

    Re: activating windows

search for SLUI 4 on your PC. I had to put a shortcut on my desktop because i had to activate so many times. It seems you have to activate when you overclock or modify your system in any way. But the phone calls are quick and easy, and the employee's are usually bored of talking to people, so it takes 2 minutes.
