    Question Identifying A DVD-rom Drive ??

    Hello All

I have a Artec 16x DVD-Rom drive in my system, but I cannot identify it's spec. It is supposed to be 16x dvd & 48x cd. I haven't got any dvd's to try out on it, but all the cd's (games, mag cover cd's, driver disks) i've used in it so far seem to take ages to load.
I was wondering if there is any way to find out it's exact cd speed through some obscure hidden windows sub menu that maybe i've missed ?
Unfortunatly I don't have the box of it, & can't find any model numbers on the drive, nore in windows device manager.

    Cheers, Dave.

If you have Nero, you should also have the Nero Toolkit, which contains Nero CD Speed, and Nero Drivespeed. If you ain't got Nero, you can download the trial version to check out your drive.
Though there's probably a much easier way...

    Cheers guys
Yup as I thought, apparantly the drive reads @ 48x
    But cd's load so slow..
dvd-rom drives have drivers, do they need updating
every month or so, like Graphic Gards ?

    Cheers.
