    Extremely Quiet Audio

    Hi there again,

I just put the replacement PSU in my computer after what happened here. The problem I have now is that the audio coming out of motherboard is super-quiet. I have to put my speakers up to full volume to even be able to recognise that music is play. On the other hand, the audio coming out of the TOSLink optical port is fine. I have tried reinstalling the audio drivers but this did not make any difference. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    ta2

    1. Are you using the correct output? (Easy mistake but I never get it right)
    2. Have you checked all the volume sliders not just the master one? (Try a different audio type, midi or CD) I've had a windows crash result in for no apparent reason the wave slider defaulting to the very bottom.

I have them all set to max. It is the right output, I have also tried plugging it into the Line Out and swapping the output to that with the Realtek control panel.

    just a thought

    2. is there a front panel audio connection ? if so try removing it

Fixed it. The problem was that I connected the "HDAudio" connector from the case to the motherboard instead of the "AC97" connector. Strange though since I wasn't even using any of the front panel connections.

    Cheers all!
