e6550 or e4300 - Which will be easiest to over clock?

I have a e6550 and an e4300 on its way. I am hoping to out one of them in my main rig and overclock it to about 3ghz.

I had originally thought that the e6550 would be the easiest to to this with as it is the faster chip, but i have recently read alot of people having 3ghz+ success with the e4300 by just raising the fsb to 333.

i'll be running them on a GA-G33M-DS2R motherboard with Corsair Twinx DDR2 PC5400 ram.
I really want to start over clocking the ram so i am looking at the easiest overclock to around 3.0ghz, and i will be staying with the basic stock cooling at the moment.

Any ideas as to which of these chips would be the best for a simple overclock. I dont want to spend any more money!

Re: e6550 or e4300 - Which will be easiest to over clock?

Well I found the E2140 went higher than the E4300 at stock volts (memory and CPU)..............on my E4300 I seem to hit a wall around 3ghz and I didn't bother to try and go higher as my cooler was the weakest link.
Anyway the E4300 should go to 3ghz very easily.
2nd computer gigabyte P965ds3p, 7770 E2140@2.9ghz, corsair HX520 6 years stable, replaced now with E8400@3.9ghz and will overclock more when I'm bored.

Yes IMO if you could find a decent Conroe e4300 or e4400, I would imagine you would have a healthier overclock compared to a e6550, reason being that to overclock a e6550 to 3.0Ghz you would have to have to FSB set to 1715Mhz(QDR), whereas on a e4300 you would only have to raise the FSB to 1333Mhz(QDR).

It seems less voltages would be needed to support the e4300 overclock efficiently.

Thanks for the advice, that is good news, means that dont have to remove the cpu from my current system.
