    need a 3hrs+ laptop

    Hi all,

    I'm looking for a laptop around £600.
one thing must be met is 3hrs+ battery life.

general advice i was given is smaller laptop+integrated graphics, eco mode etc which i understand.

most laptops with screen size 13.3" has 3hrs+ battery, but i dont want to go there.

i want 15" screen atleast, and a dedicated graphics card.(not old ones that the new integrated ones can beat)
so i want the best spec i can get for £600 basically.

so far i've found Acer Aspire 5920G (H) [15"+3.5hrs], Samsung R700(17"+3hrs) and Toshiba A200GE-26Q(duno the battery life) that have good specs..

please help if u know any
    thanks in advance.

You can get an awesome spec dell vostro 1500 inside that budget

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

prices are ex vat but comes out around £530 delivered for that spec.

You will need the 9 cell battery and would need to use reasonable settings to get over 3 hours but it's a great laptop. You could save some battery by getting the 8400gs rather than the 8600GT.

    Re: need a 3hrs+ laptop

    I've got a Vostro 1500, I paid £650 for it about 6 months back.

    C2D 2Ghz, 2GB, 260GB hdd ( i think ), 8600GT and a few extras. 3 year next day warranty.

I've managed to get 5 hours out of it ( 9 cell ) when I'm doing basic stuff. Around 1.5-2 hours when gaming.

    Re: need a 3hrs+ laptop

thats great 9 cells looks like a must, altho it sticks out the back a lil bit? if so, by how much?

also have a look at this
Find a Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Server, Printer, Software, Service, Monitor or TV at Dell.

they must be a bit over confident with their battery life figures?

also is the XPS worth it? as spec wise might be slightly lower, but looks a lot better and thinner?
how bulky is this vostro 1500?

found another link from dell about battery life
    Dell - Support
such large difference between the 2 links.......

    Re: need a 3hrs+ laptop

The XPS is thinner and lighter, although with the CCFL screen it won't really be huge inprovement.

You get HDMI, a better warranty as standard and the GDDR3 8600GT..

The vostro is a typical 15" laptop.. not light but not too heavy and the bangs for bucks is rediculous. Last day at that price I believe. If you want the 9 cell just phone them and spec it that way or buy it as accessory and then you will have two batteries
