    Re: Ezcool Psu's

    Couple of things about PSUs
1 depends what you do with them.
2 depends what your components are.

A common cause of killing your psu is upgradeing your graphics card.
Running a c2d at stock speeds and nothing powerfull in the way of graphics card and that ezcool will probably be ok
you want to consider overclocking or anything decent graphics card wise and NO don't risk it.

    Antec are a marketing company.
They & others source product , badge it & resell.
There are only so many PSU manufacturers & many brands come out of the same factories albeit there may be variations in exact spec.
Antecs tend to be either Seasonic or CWT oemed (as do Corsair).
    Buff is correct here.
Seasonic make the antec earthwatts and Neo HE models, not sure on the others.
Some of the antecs are very good for there cost, granted they are not black and shiney and generally look like so oem job but they perform well.

FSP are generally good, but model does come into it, they make some cheap psu with lower grade components (seem to remember that FSP make psu for HP)

Basically it's make+model that is important as simply as it gives you a better idea as to how much you can trust the numbers.

Sorry but i think you are off the mark there.
If you buy a major 'el cheapo' PSU it doesnt really have a bearing how much you load it. Its the fact that the constant ripple and dirty power coming from is about to tip the components over the edge.

    Re: Ezcool Psu's

Yeah, generally the more you load an elcheapo PSU the quicker it's going to fail, but it's going to fail at some point anyway (OK, so everything will, but you get the idea).

I won't even consider an elcheapo for the most budget of budget PCs I build, let alone the mid-high end stuff. You might save a few quid in the short-term, but it's going to cost you a hell of a lot more when you factor in the long-term costs.

Put it another way. Would you consider buying a hard drive from someone who had had it powered from a QTec? I sure as hell wouldn't.

    Re: Ezcool Psu's

Actually that is quite a bit of load esp the x1950pro, granted not into sli/corssfire levels but it's still quite a bit.
Do you over clock? that pushes the psu requirements up. (more stability than power)

    Re: Ezcool Psu's

Umm cannot find exact number for the x1950pro
    Ati say
"450-Watt power supply or greater, 30 Amps on 12 volt rail recommended"

Xbits found the peak 3d load for the x1900XT is 108w clicky
and I know the x1950pro is suposed to be below that.

ahh your numbers are comming from here?
