Formatting a HDD with Vista Ultimate
Hey everyone, i was wondering if any of you could help me.
I recently have decided to sell my copy of Windows Vista Ultimate edition on Ebay and i have reformatted the Vista hard drive using XPs Disk Manager. (Yes i have XP and Vista on Dual Boot).
Now the hard drive is completely wiped but on Windows Boot Manager it still seems to be detecting the Vista partition.
I did remove the partition before formatting so i dont know whats going on.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Boot with your XP disc, go to the recovery console and type fixmbr.

Damn...hasnt worked, it still showing the vista partition on the Boot Manager.
Re: Formatting a HDD with Vista Ultimate
Try using the fixboot command, also from the recovery console. Make sure you have anything important backed-up first.

If charleski's suggestions haven't sorted it, try having a look at msconfig (type msconfig from run on the start menu) and the boot.ini tab. I think hitting the check all boot paths button should sort out the boot menu and clear the Vista entry.
