PSU recommendation for new PC
I'm looking to power the following:
- Motherboard (not sure which one yet)
- Q6600 CPU
- Graphics card (8800GT/GTS)
- 2 x WD Raptors (old 74GB ones)
- 2 x DVD-writers
- 1 x floppy drive
- WiFi PCI card
- 4-port USB PCI card
- 4GB memory (4 x 1 GB sticks)
- 4 x 120mm fans (3 case, 1 CPU HSF)
I've already got a 480W Tagan Whisper PSU from my current system. It's around three years old so i'm not sure if it'll last much longer which is why i'm considering buying a new one.
The shortlist is:
- Corsair HX620W
- Corsair TX650W
- Corsair TX750W
The TX range is new whilst the HX is well established and seems to have a lot of positive feedback. I also like the modular nature of the HX which would eliminate cable clutter inside the case. I guess all three of those would be more than sufficient to power the components above and an improvement over my 480W Tagan Whisper.
Re: PSU recommendation for new PC
I'd go with the tried and tested HX, just because its tried and tested and you know you are going to be getting a really solid PSU and its really quiet.
Re: PSU recommendation for new PC
and it's modular :) the 520w will run that pc though
Re: PSU recommendation for new PC
If your budget can stretch I'd go for the HX620 as it has 2 Pci-e connectors and would be more future proof:)
Re: PSU recommendation for new PC
The 520w has 2x pci-e, the 750w TX has 4!!
Can always use molex -> pci-e adapters though
Re: PSU recommendation for new PC
Yeah - HX520 if you're not going to do SLI/Crossfire. No point in having the 620 - better to spend the extra money on a shinier graphics card, or something.
Re: PSU recommendation for new PC
We've got a hx620 in one of our boxes and it work fine.
-Ment to get a 520 tho, which im sure would have been fine too.
Int quietish too which was the sole reason i got it. The cables are a bit messy tho.
