    What CPU?

Atm im running on a old p4 3.2ghz oc to 3.4ghz, which has done me very well, anyhow now that ive got a bit of spare cash im gonna get a new cpu now ive been looking at the Q6600 which seems to be in the right price range for me and should last me a good couple of years. Is there any reason not to get this chip or any suggestions? Btw id mostly be gaming and plan on overclocking it to about 3.2 - 3.4.

    Thanks inadvance.

that will decide if you can run a new C2D chip or not

    Re: What CPU?

I would get the q6600 if it has to be right now.

Perhaps hold out for the new quads coming in the new year if your aren't desperate (they may no work on that board though)

    Re: What CPU?

Can't go wrong with a Q6600. The new 45nm chips are out now but won't be cheap for a while. I have mine clocked to 3.6GHz with no issues

    Re: What CPU?

i'm in the same situation, prescott 3.4 (uurgh!)

but now i'm ready to overhaul!

i'm waiting till after xmas, get a onboard graphics motherboard, penryn quad, a nice heatsink to slow fan right down and a decent case. quiet is where it's at for me. Should be done for £400 I think.
