Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
Hi guys, I have an Antec P182, Corsair HX620 PSU, and an Asus P5K-E Motherboard
I've never built a system before, and I've installed the motherboard, optical drive, hard drive and connected all the of the case cables to the right bits (I hope) with the Asus Q-Connect piece
My question is how do I connect the fans to the FAN1/2/3 bits on the motherboard, or do I just connect them straight to the PSU? They have big 4 pin connectors, that also appear to have a connector in the back of them as well....
Can I link the top two case fans together, plug them into my PSU cable, and then plug the bottom fan into the same cable? I'm pretty confused, hopefully someone will know the case/motherboard I am talking about!
(By the way, first post, drinks on me!)

Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
Welcome to the forums.
The way I did mine was, connect all the fan molex's together and then plugging that into the psu.
Theres a connector that is for fans only that I used IIRC
Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
Yeah there is, splits off into a Y piece...
So I can join the 'molex' from the top two fans together, plug that into the 'Y', and then use the other part of the 'Y' to plug into the bottom fan?
Cool, also, how did you remove the bottom fan?
Thanks,
T

The Corsair PSU has a special molex plug for fans (standard size but only two pins in it - it is marked fan only, but easy to mistake for the standard one. (The fan won't mind if you use a standard lead, but a HDD would object if you used a fan connector for them!)
Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
I didnt remove my bottom fan cause I couldnt seem to get it to budge.
Apparently you just push it a bit though. this link explains it a bit more

that side bit is quite wobbly and ive seen on forums a few people have snapped it trying to take the fan out, so be careful.
Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
Why do you want to remove the bottom fan?
All the cables you need should feed out of the side and behind the motherboard tray.
Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
Because it's murder to plug anything into the PSU with it there.
Right, I have 3 molex connectors, 2 ends are marked Fan only... How do I connect it to the PSU? Plug it into another molex adaptor and then into the PSU?

Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
Yeah, the fans plug into the fan only and then the other end goes to a cable from the psu
Cant remember if I even used the fan only cable now, you could just connect straight to the normal molex cable and do without the extra bit of cable.
Tis a bit fiddley putting the connectors in the psu.
I did it positioning the cable with my hand in the case one way, and then pushing it in with the other hand coming in from the other side of the case.

That's that sorted, now I'm having problems installing my Zalman 9700, I will be amazed if this machine works...

Yickes. Sounds more painful than ideal. Got my P182 and the box taking a lot of real estate in my room, a HX620 coming and the rest of my build probably in January. I was worried of any cabling complications caused by the P180/182 design.
Re: Antec P182 / Corsair HX620 - How to wire up?
That case and PSU are a match made in heaven! perfect length cables imo.
It's not that hard to get the mudular cables in anyway. If you find it that hard the easy way is to,
1. Work out which cables you need to use
2. Plug them into the PSU
3. with both case sides off fit the PSU (from the mobo side with the cables hanging out the side.
4. route them round the back of the motherboard to the respective holes in the tray.
5. Get a nice cold beverage..your work here is done :D
