    computer not booting

    samsung spinpoint 250gb HD
    fatality an8 sli
    x2 amd 4400
    2 gb ram
    bfg 7800gtx gfx card

    my comp wont boot it says disk is missing and boot from cd rom.
    i go into the bios and i cant find my harddrive.
    went wrong after i installed new driver for my GFX card any ideas???

    As it's not seeing the HDD we have three possibilities: HDD problem, mobo problem or cable problem. Check that the data and power cable to your HDD have not come loose at either end. If that's not an issue try changing them over.

    Next step is try your HDD in another computer.

    it just stopped though after i installed the new drivers for my gfx card

    Coincidence (based on the fact that the HDD is not being seen in the BIOS). Drivers frying HDDs would surely be famous already...

    right the HDD is now being seen on the bios, and the screen goes all the way and then just freezes at the scren where it says verifyng DMI pool data

    right another update cleared the cmos and now it boots to the status window of xp booting then blue screens??

    What does the BSOD say?

    If its "Inaccessible boot device" then the drive is likely toast if you have already run through the step above.

    Do you have any data that you need and haven't backed up? If the answer is no then you could try a clean install.

    If you do have data then your first try should be to see if the data can be recovered by putting the HDD as a non-boot device on another PC.
