well for gfx card i have these 2 in mind:
EVGA 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 384bit Dual DVI PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer
or
BFG 8800GTX OC version 768MB 2xDVI GDDR3 PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer
i hear the evga 1 is amazing for overclocking
Alright, from the top
Last year in November, Nvidia released the G80 core cards. These were:
The 8800GTS and the 8800GTX.
The 8800gts was slightly less powerful than the 8800gtx, but both had so much power compared to the competition that the 8800gts became the new price vs. performance model.
Then in May 2007 came the 8800 ultra, again, slightly better and slightly more expensive.
Then, October just gone Nvidia brought out their G92 core cards. Well, the first of which is the 8800GT which is aimed at the mid-upper range market. The 8800GTS / GTX are expected to be re-released very shortly with the new (and very impressive) G92 core.
Now, currently a GTX still outperforms a GT, but not by much and it's twice as expensive. When the NEW gtx comes out, that will smoke the old GT for sure. As will the new GTS.
The best recommendation if you're buying now, is to go get a GT because it's performance vs. it's price is incredible. If you can hang on a bit, the G92 variants of the GTS and GTX will come out (I think the reason they're coming out a bit later is Nvidia wanted to upstage ATIs 3850 / 3870 with it's 8800gt so released early) and they'll be awesome performers. If you demand the best then for now, get an 8800GT, then sell it to upgrade to to a GTX when the new ones are announced. Otherwise you'll be buying a card that will not be obselete as such, but superceeded in a matter of weeks (and the price is likely to be similar for the new cards as it is for the existing ones).
Hope that all makes sense to you.
Correction: It's not confirmed whether a G92 GTX is coming out. Either way, 2 x GT will beat 1x GTX, for around the same price.
I realised that as I was typing it too =O Crazy. I just typed 9800 and then I thought about someone rushing out and buying an old ATI card so added the nVidia part.
I think its basically from slowest to fastest its GTS --> GT --> GTX --> ULTRA.
Soon there will be a new GTS, which will probably be as quick as the GTX. But early next year there will be a completely new card, which will be much faster than even the ULTRA. So I think you should wait for that. Either stick with your current card until then, or buy a GT now and use it for a few months, and then buy the new card, and sell the GT.
This is the spec im thinking of getting
lol dam computer technology when you need a new pc u might aswell w8 but when the new thing is out there is somthing better around the corner again

is the graphics card a wise choice it seems really good and the price tag is nice what you guys think so far of the spec?
what you think needs changing i have a budget of 950 what could i make better ect i may get another monitor 22inch 150 quid so that leaves me pretty much done
shall i change the ram and HDD??
is 4g that worth it is it better getting a nice 2gb set which is better ?
you think this is a good system to keep me happy and my gaming life at uni good for a few years
and also ive noticed the GT is pcie2.0 is the mobo i have selected 2.0 also if not what mobo would you suggest thats 2.0
if this is true is it worth picking up 1 of these its only a few weeks and i can wait will the new GTS be a much bigger difference and with a 200 - 250 price tag .. well im game

the prob is that 2gb set is identical really to corsair's 2gb set which is half the price on scan. keep the hdd if you like, they've just got a bundle deal on that'll save you a tenner . (£95 instead of £105).

The only difference is that the OCZ will use bigger heatspreaders - but in my experience you have to put more volts through the OCZ to get it to do anything
Thing is the CPU will throttle from the FSB before the RAM does, that means you just want to get lower latencies, these have the same latencies as the OCZ memory.
I would definitely get the corsair, just seems a better buy all round.
alright Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK
the corsair ram seems to be the final plan for the ram now 2gb or 4gb
and do i wait for the new gts?
It's out next month, and will be faster, but by how much is the question.
Personally I'd just get the GT because if you wait til next month no doubt the rest of your stuff will be obselete, i.e. the new intel chips are coming out next year, ix38 motherboards, amd's new motherboards & processors... and so on. Things move so quickly it's hard to keep up.
I've just bought another 2 gigs to take me up to '4' though I'll only be able to use 3 and a bit. For the price was worth it though - it's really up to you at the end of the day. I remember when 64mb was £80 :|
£35 cheaper GFX and virtually the same:

The minor difference in specs will make no noticeable difference, not worth £35 more...

personally im not fond of msi stuff and they're not known for their overclockability. But both will be good performers I expect.
£100 to spare? If you want to watercool the P180 isn't the best case to start with. With £180 by not getting the P180 you may be able to get a watercooling set up. Possibly. It's probably not worth it though. Stick with the P180, buy another case fan for the front intake (just a 1000rpm sharkoon silent eagle will do), save the rest of your money for upgrades.
I personally would want to wait. If only for the GTS.
As for water cooling, I only think its worth it, if you want to do huge overclocks. Otherwise, modern fans can do a good enough job for most people.
i want to overclock alot and i wanna get water cooling never had it and want to ventre into it what you guys suggest i wanna water cool my cpu and gpu
Watercooling is a whole different ballgame. The difference in cost between a good air-cooled setup, and a water-cooled one that's big enough to tell the difference, is big bucks. Those big bucks are a write off when it comes to a future upgrade.
IOW WC is only worth it if money isn't a real issue. I don't think many people are like that here. If you are one of the few then you need to spec your machine with WC in mind.
i like my air but i like my sleep and coz im at uni = free electricity in halls atm so i wanna keep pc downloading coz wen u get download speeds of 1.5mb you just gotta rinse it lol so i wann keep my pc on whiolst i sleep but it not being loud
