Re: best 8800gtx

The spec you listed looks good dude

You can get that RAM for around £45 quid though. No point in paying £80... Any low latency (4-4-4-12, or 4-4-4-15) 800MHz stuff will do you atm.

Enjoy the machine, and upgrade to the 9800GTX when you get a chance

Well you had better learn to write and spell properly or your reports will get laughed right out of court and your credibility will be zero.

Re: best 8800gtx

Do you want the Geforce 9800 next year? If it was me, I wouldn't want to be spending £230 on graphics and then £300+ in a few months when the 9800 arrives. But thats up to you.

Also, you can make a PC that is close to silent nowdays. Just have to pick the right case and the right fans, and then make sure everything is fitted properly.

I'd personally swap the cooler for this:

Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

The Ninja is good, but the Thermalright's still the best around at the minute I think.

As with always you probably have to pay over the odds and be lucky to pick up the first shipped units. Demand always far exceeds supply.

£200 for a GT is madness with the new 8800GTS's only 10 days away.
I wouldnt pay more than £120 for one now the next gens are so close.

If the specs are correct, and there is no reason why they aren't, the new GTS's will be the 'sweet spot' in the market on price v performance.

*droooool*

I think I will consider upgrading sometime next year to all this new gear. The CPU's aren't a big deal considering my current CPU is not even pushed in Crysis, but I think they are planning on a low end Penryn, and I bet that will be a good deal. Maybe not at first, but eventually. I'm assuming it will take over from the Q6600.

That 9800 card though... it sounds blinding. I think I would like to sell my 8800GTX and buy one of those. Instead of having to lower the quality settings of Crysis, or lower the resolution, that thing would play at max res with everything cranked, and probably even a load of AA and stuff too. I bet it would look amazing. I just hope its not >£400. I think it probably will be though.
