the noise from the shttle sn41g2 is now driving me crazy as i leave it on all night and i was just wondering how i can silence it. atm its all of the stock fans and stuff on it
thanks for any replies
Currently what ive done to my SN41G:
Replaced the Sunon with a 12db Panaflo
Using a passively cooled AGP 9200se (its better than MX400 anyway and has DVI)
Replaced the northbridge heatsink and fan with a passive blue zalman jobbie (need the AGP card todo this - it will run too hot using IGP)
Got a 20db ADDA on the way to replace the PSU fan
should be quiet enough after this, only the harddisk is 25db idle/30+ write now
I was running it earlier and it was 43-47C (various temps inside the case), but i stuck a low noise Papst on the side pointing inwards over cpu/northbridge and now my temps are 30-33C

I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!
well MD sells them silent PSUs (see other thread)
Fans bought from here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dorothy...ry/panaflo.htm
Zalman bought from thecoolingshop.co.uk (free delivery)
Gfx is an Asus 9200se - its natively passively cooled, not modded.

Hmm... which one is the 12dB panaflo fan? I can't find it from the link you provided
I noticed the 21 dB Panaflo, but is it powerful enough for the job in the SN41G2?
Thanks for replying.
xfactor
the 12db is less powerful ill put it that way

I got a few led fans from ebuyer in the past for cheap, around £1.50 I think..ran them in a server case but found that if I used speedfan @2% they still produced a good enough amount of air flow to cool my shuttle and the most important thing was silence.
I also modded my PSU with an asaka fan, again speedfan @1%. With my new Maxtor HD installed the whole thing is now completely silent and still getting good temps.

yeah you can but I don't think it will fit in the shuttle case unless you mod the case, here are 2 options of passive cooling, both from Zalman.
Zalman ZM80C-HP
Zalman ZM80A-HP
a few peeps on the forums have cut out enough space on the sides of their cases to fit this heatsink on thier ATi cards. Apart from the hassle of modding and the cost of the HS itself...the end result is priceless, silent PC is just too kewl
