4Gb of RAM in a 925XE Neo Platinum, BIOS reports 2.75GB?
Hi,
Think I might have shot myself in the foot here, but:
Got an MSI 925XE Neo Platinum (MSI-7053)
I've installed 4 x 1GB stick of Crucial DDR2-PC4200 CL4 (CT2KIT12864AA53E) which the board claims to accept (although it does say you might not be able to use all of it)
I though this was talking about Windows limitations, but the BIOS itself is only reporting 2.75GB installed RAM.
I've updated the BIOS to 1.7, no difference.
Am I completely stuffed or does anybody know a fix?
Thanks,
J1M.
Re: 4Gb of RAM in a 925XE Neo Platinum, BIOS reports 2.75GB?
Search. Its covered almost every day.
Its due to the 32bit limit being hit with memory addressing.
If your BIOS has a memory remap feature, you can get it to "see" it all, but thats pointless if you're running a 32bit OS :)
Sadly, some boards are coded with a 32bit limit and no BIOS changes will get around it. Depends on the board.
