    Re: new pc

3k is just silly money at present. Spend less than half that and then upgrade as better kit becomes available.

If you are buying now then I'd go for: Vista 64 Home Premium Upgrade (search my posts or the internet to see how this works); Q6600 G0; Abit IP35 Pro; 4Gb Ballistix DDR2; 500Gb HDD (Samsung/WD/Seagate), Samsung SH-203 DVD/RW; 8800GT/20" widescreen (depending on daily deals); case and Logitech/MS peripherals of choice.

In fact this is what I did go for and it cost me $1500, including a second DVD, a webcam and some speakers. It means that I can upgrade again next year, and the year after, etc., etc. If you can wait an indeterminate number of weeks you might be able to skip a cycle, but that is always the case...

Will cover you reasonably well, if I had a bit more cash I'd swap the the motherboard for an aBit IP35 Pro and replace the graphics card with an 8800GTX or Ultra but not a lot else would change.

    Re: new pc

    Certainly follow Lucio's pc.

The GTX or Ultra is the best card right now (should be out done very soon though) and you certainly have the budget for it but please don't spend more than £1500 on the PC lol.

Get the q6600 and overclock it you wont tell the difference.

If you really want to spend £3k i'd spend £1500 on the PC and The rest on a seriously elaborate monitor setup

If its been dispatched, send it back unused. They are obliged to refund it.
