They are good, but not the best.
I guess it depends on your budget and if you want to overclock and how far.
I have overclocked a core2duo e6300 from stock (1.83ghz) to 3.15ghz with an artic cooling freezer 7 pro. (had to increase voltages to 1.4, but it still was ok in prime95 x 2) -- (that got 2590 marks in 3dmark06 for 11295 3dmarks screenshot )
I really need to lap my CPU heatsink though (and maybe the artic cooling). It fell off recently coming from a lan party (oh yea, in case nobody tells you, intel pushpins are [insert offensive profanity here]). But being at uni I had no choice but to just stick it back on without cleaning and reapplying thermal stuff, even though the original compound had already cured. (Artic Silver I think I used). And I managed to get the overclock above
Right now, room temp 19*C, CPU 29*C on both cores (idle pretty much). That's at 2.94ghz (don't have to up the voltage at this OC).
Hi namuk,
I have one of these with a Q6600, and it cools it just fine (see my temps below) if you want to OC past 3/3.2GHz then i would suggest the Tuniq Tower or one of the bigger Thermalright jobbies.
2.7GHz (300x9.0) Idle: 34c, Load: 35c, Stress 51c
3.0GHz (333x9.0) Idle: 34c, Load: 42c, Stress 54c
Maximum temp i have hit is 57c during stress testing @ 3.0GHz, stress testing was stable over period of 8 hours on both clocks.
All of these temps were taken with the case fans in my P182 on there lowest settings.
Price/Performance wise i think these coolers are great.
HTH
edit. vcore remains on the lowest my mobo will allow 1.3250v

I'm on a Pentium D which is hotter than the core2duo's and slightly hotter than the core2quad
with the fan up at it's fastest I'm around 42c load (I've got mine connected to a fan controller, my ASRock motherboard doesn't like auto control on the ACf7p)
That's unlapped with the original thermal paste (it's MX1 btw)
The main things they have going for them is that they are better and quieter than the stock cooler even at max speed.
They are pritty small and easy to mount.
Cheap. (although the Asaka ak-965 is basically the same cooler but cheaper still)
Something like the scythe mine is better, quieter and slightly more expensive (a better buy IMO)
However it's far larger and getting pushpins correctly locked in can be far harder than on the ACf7p or ak-965 simply because of the size of the cooler.
(and the mine is a medium sized cooler, the ninja is larger still)
I wouldn't say it's a great cooler, it's good for the price, although the ak-965 is a few £ cheaper and gets simiular resaults. (I've seen better quoted resaults with the ak-965 but only on lists without the ACf7p and never seen a head to head between them)
However it's a massive step up from the stock cooler and doesn't have a massive price tag to go with it.
It's also pritty easy to mount for beginers. (no harder than the stock cooler)
I have one on a E6600 and it is ok at around 3.2.
But as already stated it depends on you budget as there are a lot of better ones out there.
I think the AC7 rocks. You could spend another £30 and get something that will cool your CPU about 2C more, but its not really worth it.
I got one also P4 630 is running at a nice 40*C
thanks all
i was looking at the Scythe coolers but seen loads of reveiws .. and looked at this Scythe Mugen but there massive and cover mem slots the ac7 also has 4pin plug for mb for auto fan speed alot do not and alot of reveiws must be running them at fan full speed to get good temps
I have a freezer pro on my E6600 and it clocks to 3.4GHz stable, idles in the late 30 degrees, maxes out at around 50 degree's
uk and EVGA 680i
lol staffs see it now dam good cooler that .. wot case you got mate and do you have upgraded fans in it
or just standard?
