Thread: Multi-chip USB card?

    Multi-chip USB card?

    Lately I've moved into USB Storage. However I run into problem with all my USB harddrives sharing the same limited bandwidth. The total speed seems to be about 28MB/s altogether. If I copy from 1 drive to another I'm down to 14MB/s

    I wonder if there are any multi-chips card out there? i.e. 4 USB chips on a single card, each have a dedicated USB port so I can max out them all at the same time?

    I tried eSATA on my Seagate FreeAgent Pro 750GB with my Asus P5WD2 (eSATA on SIL 3132).
    Speed is like 9MB/s which is same as USB.

    May be it is enclosure specific :S

    it should be totally enclusure unspecific from what i gather, as its a straight-though connection with no converting going on.
