Hes talking about now, not " what system can i build in a month/few months time ". As it stands atm a q6600 and 8800gt are best bang for buck on the market.

Edit, wouldn't get the 680i chipset gazza. The Asus striker extreme uses it and well tbh its a little poo, ive gone off Nforce chipsets since NF4.

Also did you see my message about i can help you if need be, i only live down the road.

yep, the nvidia chipsets will have some problems with yorkfield and those upcoming cpu's as it seems intels trying to get back at nvidia since they cant dominate in the graphics market so they do something like changing specifications to the new cpus so nvidias 680 chipset requires some bios upgrading etc. anything p35 x38 g31-35 won't have a problem at all.

I'd lay the problem at least as much at NVidia's door. It's they who have kept SLI from Intel in order to push their own chipsets.

kk thanks for that, what do you think of the rest of the system though? is there anything I would need extra such as extra fans or will the ones in the case be ok.

If you get the Antec 900 one thing you don't need is extra fans! You might want to think about how you're going to deal with dust though...

i got the aluminium fan filters from scan and they work a charm, i just click em in and fantastic!
its the alphacool 120mm fan filters. dust free here. when im done with the pc i plonk a cover over the 200mm fan so dust doesnt fall through
plus im so lazy to take the fan filters off to remove the dust i just dyson them from the outside

Antec 900 ........ hmmmmm two of my mates have them and i don't like the build quality of it, + the inside is all grey and nasty, i prefer lian li - silverstone. Actually use aluminium instead of grey steel.

Thanks for the offer of help modd1uk. I have also seen somewhere on here that someone said it would be better to wait until jan because prices will go down due to new products hitting the market so I might just do that.

New Quads have started to arrive already.

The new GTS is due for release tomorrow and for sale next week.
Thats hardly months is it? and both are going to be more powerful at lower or similar cost hence both being better value.

The build quality is actually pretty good.
