i have an OLD lg cdrom drive that is recognised under the bios, windows, slackware, gentoo, knoppix, etc.
only problem is it won't read and discs - whatsoever!
any ideas?

Maybe its buggered The laser is probably knackered, and the price u can buy em for now id just get a new one for around 20 quid. ( Does the disc spin up when u put it in?)
This exact same thing happened to me on a CD-ROM I bought from PC World Couple of months old, they tested and changed it for me, no probs (was glad I didn't buy it online that time)

its in my pc but i've never had a need to use it - just wondered if it was fixable (for the instance that it was required...)
