    No Improvement

I've upgraded my system from a A3200+ to Opteron 175 and gone from 1GB ram (512X2 dual core but not matched to dual core 2GB (1GBx2) and the 1gb but there is no improvement in performance. I have the 2gb in the dual core slots. Could the 1gb be causing problems?

    Re: No Improvement

I think you may be confusing your terms here. Matched ram on newer motherboards is known as 'Dual Channel' not dual core.

That aside, what motherboard are you using? What are the specs on the ram? Maybe you're old stuff is causing the new stuff to run slower, have you tried with only the new stuff

    Re: No Improvement

When you saythere is no improvement in performance, how are you measuring the performance. In games performance could well be limited by your graphics card. In general office or surfing a dual core will give an improvement but its not that obvious unless you use a lot of applications at the same time.

    Re: No Improvement

sorry meant dual channel and not core.
Things like openi8ng email take for ages and MSN messenger is slow to start. Generall moving between windows /programmes is sluggish, new ram is,
the 512 is nanya and an unknown manufacturer.
