    Which processor?

Sorry am just wibbling but its a choice now, still waivering a bit.

    AM2 6000 x2 £85

    Intel Dual E6750 £110

    Intel Q6600 £155

I looked at the benchmarks on Toms cpu comparitor, really useful. The 6750 dual nearly always beats the quad. Is this because the dual is clocked at a higher speed, also because the 2 other cores are not being utilised as much until software takes advantage of it? I assume the quad just has more overclocking potential as well. I only really play wow and like to burn a few dvds.

Please state which processor to choose.

    Thanks folks.

I would go for the quad as it is more future proof.

    Re: Which processor?

The Quad has great overclocking potential, so bear that in mind

The E6750 would suffice very nicely for what your needs are currently. Might just depend on how much your looking to spend.

Yes. The quad may only have similar or even slightly less overclocking potential, but I'd go for that as performance will not be a lot less, and as you say programs should be out next year that will make use of four cores.
