22" screen on a 6600gt & screen recommendations

For christmas im looking at getting a 22" screen, however the PC im on now only has a 6600GT. I did a full upgrade about 2 months ago(quad core etc) but left the graphics card out as i dont play as many games as i used to.

Im on a 20" screen atm, but im selling it to one friend, whilst another friend is getting me same screen but in the 22" formart for an extra £23 (equivilent to a good night out for me).

Keeping in mind i run a 2nd 17" screen as well dual screen, will the card cope with light gaming & heavy media usage(HD films, etc)?

Secondly; The screen im looking at is the Samsung 226BW, has anyone used them or got any views on them? or any other alternatives to consider?

A 6600GT will struggle with modern games at 1680x1050 but it'll be fine for media and what-not.

As for a 22" display, I'd go with either the Samsung or an LG L226WTQ.

The 226BW is a gorgeous display, and you won't be disappointed

As for media stuff and driving the displays the 6600GT will be fine - but you won't really manage games at full res. However I find that the 226BW scales extremely well, so it's no problem playing games at 800x600 or 1024x768.

that samsung is an award winning monitor, scores highly in all the pc mags I've seen them review. I just hope mine doesnt come with a dead pixel!

What's the resolution of your 20"? if it's a tft then they are generally 1680x1050 which is the same as a 22" so you will have the same performance levels as you currently have.

I'd wait until nVidia release the GTS v2 (11th December?) and both it and the GT become readily available... maybe January?

OR, if you can wait until the 9800 series appears (possibly February), you'll no doubt save more pennies.

A pal of mine recently bought a 226BW and it's the best I have ever seen. I'm a recent convert to dual screen (19" AG Neovo) so now I'm wondering whether the desk is big enough for the Samsung ... with a 19" on either side!
