New board help.

Right as Im sending by EVGA 680i board back due to it been a horrible overclocker and failing everyday somehow, Im in need of a new board.

Needs are has to have 6x sata ports, overclock reasonable well, be under £150, support the 45nm QUAD core cpus and not be a nvidia board.

if you dont need the wireless then go for the asus X38 board since it has better upgrade potential.
funny thing is evga has just stopped selling the 680i nvidia boards
only because the 780i boards are nearly out thou.

Thanks for the advice Im still trying to get round what the difference is between x38 and p35.

Ive also been offered a DFI p35 (the green board) for £80

But im also temted by the asus p5e aswell as its a maximus without the bling.?????

That Abit IP-35 Pro mobo looks pretty sweet, but can anyone tell me if it has a floppy connection (and the proper cable for it)? I couldn't tell; if it does, I might get that board.

Yup its got a floppy connector and the lead should come with it aswell as per many boards.

I didn't mean to hijack your thread, mate; in fact, it helped me see a mobo I hadn't considered before.

I just read it has a floppy connector a minute before I started replying (it was buried in specs and whatnot on a review site). Dunno if it has the cable, unless thats what a FSS cable is... lol *shrugs*

Still, I think I'm gonna get this thing. I thank you, daza; I was about to settle o na cheaper and less-feature-driven one.

After reading a bit about these three boards, I'd go wit hthe Abit if I were you. Though I admit I read more about it than the other two. The price to performance to features ratios is pretty solid from what I see.

PS: Would anyone happen to know what an FSS cable is?

should be a floppy disk cable mate.

The 3rd board is the P5E3 Board, which requires DDR3...exspensive.
